Sweden’s First 20 YO Whisky
Twenty years in an Ex-Bourbon cask. Twenty years of slow maturation. Twenty years, 50 meters underground, in the cold, dark, and humid conditions of Bodås mine.
The result? A Swedish single malt whisky in total harmony, with deep notes of sweet vanilla, ripe pear, and exciting liquorice.
Nose: The aroma is characterized by malt tones, old-fashioned vanilla ice cream, and ripe pears. Behind these sweet notes, there are hints of arrack and spicy citrus. After a while in the glass, the vanilla becomes more prominent, but honey notes are also present.
Taste: A deep fruitiness with pears, apples, and oranges. Distinct notes of liquorice and pepper also find their place in the mouth. At the back, bitter tones from the oak cask are reminiscent of grapefruit, which also contribute to a dry and warming mouthfeel. Sweetness is primarily represented by vanilla and chocolate notes.
Aftertaste: The finish is medium-length with clear fruity sweetness, mild black pepper, and subtle bitter grapefruit notes. Liquorice and leather emerge late in the finish, along with the oak cask influences.

A Heavy Milestone
Even though Mackmyra is a relatively young whisky brand, we have achieved several significant milestones since its start in 1999.
These include the introduction of the 30-litre reserve concept, the construction of the innovative Gravity distillery, and the creation of the world's first AI-generated whisky, among others. Notably,
Mackmyra no.001 stands out as the first 20-year-old whisky in Scandinavia, marking yet another remarkable milestone in our history.
Mackmyra No.001 is a single-cask whisky. A cask that has matured undisturbed for twenty years deep within Bodås Mine.
The whisky expresses dignity, gratitude, and history. On the cask, Mackmyra's characteristically fruity new make has matured into a rounded and well-balanced whisky, where sweet, bitter, and sour notes from the cask harmonize with the deep fruity notes.
The cask, which is the first reserve cask, was filled on December 20, 2002, and bottled on December 29, 2022. The whisky is cask strength.
